Our Story

Iron Tiger Gym was built for the people who never felt like they fit in at a gym — until now.

Be the best version of you

More than a gym. A second home.

At Iron Tiger, it's not about how you look or how much you know about fitness. It's about finding a community that supports you, challenges you, and helps you become the strongest version of yourself.

Our trainers and staff take pride in getting to know every member personally — your goals, your story, your schedule. When you walk through our doors, you're not just joining a gym. You're joining a family that's here to cheer you on every step of the way.

“It’s the only gym I’ve stepped foot into where you can hear laughter and cheering before you lay eyes on a single person.”
Luis Bosch Founder & Master Trainer

Where the name comes from

From the Smithville High weight room to Main Street

The name isn't marketing. It's a title earned in the weight room at Smithville High School — and a promise about the kind of place this would be.

  1. High school

    The original Iron Tiger

A 110-pound sophomore finds the Smithville High weight room — and powerlifting. Three years as the school’s best male lifter, then the top honor his senior year: the Iron Tiger, awarded to the strongest lifter pound-for-pound. Luis earned it lifting nine times his body weight.

  2. 2012–2016

    Coming home to train

Luis moves back to Smithville with a plan: become a trainer, learn the business, open a gym. He works the front desk at the Smithville Rec Center, earns his first certification and builds a full book of clients — 5am to 6pm, here and in La Grange.

  3. April 7, 2017

    Doors open at 316 Main

With a business plan, a lot of grit and a few local believers — including the owners of Honey’s Diner — Iron Tiger Gym opens on Main Street.

  4. Summer 2017

    Weathering the storm

Hurricane Harvey pours through the roof the very first summer. The gym closes for a few days, dries out, and gets back to work.

  5. 2020

    The hard years

The pandemic cuts memberships by 60%. Personal training keeps the lights on — and the members who come back start lifting each other up, too.

  6. October 31, 2022

    Just down the street

With help from the community, Iron Tiger moves to its new home at 100 Main Street in just five days. Since the move, memberships have more than doubled.

  7. Today

    A team, a family, a dog

A crew of coaches, a front office that knows your name, a recovery room, and Teddy at the door. Luis has been named Best Health/Fitness Instructor in Bastrop County more than once.

Proudly Smithville

We're your neighbors. We shop at the same stores, cheer for the same Tigers, and wave at you on Main Street.
